New Delhi: The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) has extended financial and technical support to Chennai-based Raptee Energy Pvt. Ltd. for the development and commercialization of India’s first 240-Volt Electric Motorcycle Platform.
This first-of-its-kind initiative introduces high-voltage technology, widely used in the electric car segment, into India’s electric two-wheeler market.
The 240-Volt Electric Motorcycle Platform is designed to deliver faster charging, enhanced efficiency, and seamless integration with India’s expanding public charging network.

As part of the project, an ARAI-certified battery pack has been developed to complement the high-voltage system.
Raptee Energy’s DSIR-recognized in-house R&D division – backed by over six years of research – has developed the capabilities to design, test, and validate all major components, including electronics, mechanical systems, and embedded software, ensuring complete indigenous value addition.
The 240-Volt electric motorcycle platform also features advanced connectivity options, such as remote diagnostics and over-the-air (OTA) updates. In addition, the project emphasizes sustainable manufacturing practices, ensuring zero waste and no external emissions.
This aligns with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision and directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 13: Climate Action).
